I don’t know about you, but I can never seem to get enough of the Washington, DC-based, acapella group, “Sweet Honey in the Rock.” You’ve just heard a little from the title track for their CD, “I Got Shoes” — a good way to get your feet and your spirit ready for Black History Month. You may want to walk with proud energy, like Sweet Honey does in “Freedom Train,” or in their version of the traditional Bantu song that commemorates a boy’s passage into manhood:

Maybe you want to kick up your heels to “Shoo Fly” or flat out run with Molly, Lucy, and all the other kids in that old play song, “Run Molly Run.” Or if you have little ones just finding out about numbers, you might want to stroll, while your youngsters count and sing along in English, Swahili, Japanese, French, and Spanish.
