Brief sound clip

That’s the Broadway Kids with John Lennon’s “Imagine” on a new collection, called “Hey Mr. DJ!” This group of very talented young people have assembled several popular songs by Mary J. Blige, Madonna, TLC, N’Sync, Destiny’s Child, and others.

The Broadway Kids are selected from auditions held several times a year for young performers between the ages of 8 and 14 who have appeared in professional theater in New York or elsewhere. And when they aren’t in shows somewhere, they tour the country, and create distinctive recordings, full of energy, close, tight harmonies, and lots of heart.

We’re dancing this week — perhaps one of the easiest and most pleasurable ways for both kids and adults to get a little more exercise. And these kids have laid down terrific grooves here to lift you from the couch or the desk, to start you moving around in your seat on the plane or the bus, or to invite you to simply sit back and let anthems like Gloria Estefan’s “Reach” wash over you:
