Brian Selznick and Hugo Cabret Transcript
Earlier this spring, Susan Raab caught up with the artist Brian Selznick and talked with him about his latest picture book/graphic novel, The Invention of Hugo Cabret. This innovative work has been the talk of the children’s book world. It’s set in Paris in the 1930s and is about its young hero’s quest to unravel some of the mysteries of his life. But the book is also about the early cinema in France, and in particular, the magician and film pioneer, Georges Milies, the events of whose life inspired Selznick to write the book, as he explains.
